In Summer, the water is usually too warm for trout to be brought to a new environment. A general rule of thumb is that the pond should be at least one tenth of an acre (roughly 100 feet long and 50 feet wide). The pond should be deep enough for the water to remain cold at the bottom all the way through summer (10 feet deep or more). This is where the fish will spend the hot summer days! If you have never stocked your pond with trout before, please call us to discuss. Finally, water quality should be good enough to see an object that is 4 feet under water.
